What is NEET: National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is a national level medical entrance test is conducted by the CBSE Board. NEET-UG replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and is regulated for candidates who want to study any graduate medical course like MBBS/ dental course (BDS) or postgraduate course (MD / MS) in government or private medical colleges in India. It is a one tier exam, CBSE commences it once in a year in the month of May. Candidate can get All seats (MBBS/BDS) of any medical/dental college by the score of NEET examination only. Students can write the exam in Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Assamese, Marathi, Kannada, Odia and Gujarati languages from 2017 onwards.

As per the orders of Supreme Court, The medical colleges have no rights to conduct their own medical entrance exam and thus all colleges will accept the admission of students on a single medical entrance exam all over India. The total number of seats are provided under NEET are 53,430 which is distributed accordingly.

NEET Eligibility 2017:
- The Student must have completed 17 years of age as or on December 31, 2017.
- The Student must have passed class 12th examination with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and must have passed in the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually.
- In respect of the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology took together in HSC examination is 40% marks.
- The Student applying for NEET must be an Indian citizen.
- The upper age limit for candidates seeking admission through NEET is 25 years as or on December 31, 2017.
- Further, for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backwards Categories there is a relaxation of 5 years.
- Students failing to meet the above mentioned criteria shall not permitted to apply for NEET 2017.
NEET Exam Pattern:
- Exam mode: The exam will be conducted in a pen and paper based format.
- Number of questions: There will be 180 questions in NEET Entrance Exam booklet from all the three subjects. Physics and Chemistry section will comprise of 45 questions each and Biology section will consist of 90 questions.
- Question Types: Question paper will be objective, Each Question will consist of 4 ansers and students have to choose one right answer
- Syllabus: There will be multiple choice questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology taught during 10+2/HSC level syllabus as well as NCERT, CBSE and COBSE.
- Marking Scheme: For each correct answer, student will get 4 marks and there wil be also negative marking of -1. If Student will give incorrect response 1 mark will be deducted. No marks will be allotted for unmarked question.

Qualifying marks in NEET Entrance Exam:
According to the official prospectus of NEET, for qualify NEET, a student with General category have to obtain a minimum of 50th percentile in NEET, while, an SC/ST/OBC Student have to secure 40th percentile. In respect to the physically handicapped candidate have to chase 45th minimum percentile.
